1. Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Kashmir


Glaciers, frozen lakes and snow carpets rolled out to the horizon, Sonamarg, literally translating to 'The Meadow of Gold, is a snow paradise in winter. A popular destination to see snowfall in India for mountain lovers, this place is covered with a beautiful sheet of snow in the peak winters and is a sight to see and experience.


Gulmarg and Pahalgam are the true definitions of heaven. The place experiences snowfall in huge amounts and turns into a winter wonderland. The incredibly beautiful hill station in Kashmir remains open year-round for tourists.


2. Lachung, Sikkim


A true winter land, lachung and other parts of North Sikkim receive heavy snowfall during the months of October to March. The spectacular views one gets while in one of the best snow places in India are totally worth the pain. Snow enthusiasts should avoid visiting this place during the monsoon season as the snow starts melting and heavy rains are witnessed.


3. Auli, Uttarakhand


Coming only second to Gulmarg, Auli in Uttarakhand is your best bet when it comes to witnessing snowfall in the winter season as well as enjoying skiing and snowboarding in India.


The place is also famous for one of the longest cable car rides in India starting from Joshimath. Auli is a beautiful destination with panoramic views of the Himalayan Peaks including the second-tallest mountain in India, Nanda Devi (7816 m)


4. Ladakh and spiti valley, Himachal Pradesh


Well, it has already started to snow in Ladakh and Spiti valley!

Visiting Ladakh in winter offers magical moments to cherish forever. Having said that, winter in Ladakh is harsh and everything becomes frozen due to temperature falls, which sometimes become -30 degrees or -40 degrees at night.

Also, Spiti valley gets dangerous during peak monsoon hence, it is advised not to visit the valley during peak winters.


5. Sissu, Manali


Manali is a famous hill station located in the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by the towering Himalayan peaks and gorgeous valleys, it's often visited together with the Rohtang Pass. Manali and Rohtang Pass clubbed together are one of the best snow places in India.
