Can you connect to the sense of finally doing something you've been thinking about for a long time? Yes, I got the identical emotion when I finally visited Switzerland, which had been my boyhood dream destination. Before visiting this lovely region in Europe, I began preparing for the trip and writing down all of the crucial details since I didn't want to miss anything. There was nothing I didn't get to do, whether it was shopping, touring the small villages, or viewing the attractions. If you're travelling to Switzerland for the first time and want some personal experiences to help you brainstorm, read about my 7-day trip to Switzerland.
Planning
We had been planning a vacation to Switzerland for a long time, but it had always been postponed for one reason or another. One of the reasons was that we really wanted to spend more days touring this wonderful nation but couldn't get away from school for that long. However, with careful preparation and ensuring that the trip did not interfere with our academics, we were able to have a wonderful vacation.
Day 1: Arrival At Paris
We were taken to our hotel as soon as we arrived in Paris following an hour layover in Abu Dhabi. It was a regular 4-star hotel that was conveniently placed in the heart of the city, making our commute a breeze. We went exploring on our first day in Paris in order to learn more about the city of love. We began our journey by visiting St. Chapelle, which has stunning architecture. After that, my companions and I went to view the Eiffel Tower's illumination, which looked like stars sparkling on it, and then we ascended to the top.
Day 2: Exploring The City’s Few Gems
For us, a trip to Paris would be completed without seeing Monalisa's magnificent painting. We went to the famed Musee Du Louvre museum on our second day in Paris to view the classic artwork. This was the highlight of the day, so we went on to visit some of the neighbouring eateries because a trip to Paris isn't complete without sampling some of the city's sweet specialities.
Day 3: Lake Lucerne
We were all excited to explore the Swiss countryside after experiencing the cities of Paris. We proceeded to the streets on the third day after getting up and freshening up, and after going through the showrooms, we arrived in front of Lake Lucerne. This spot was incredibly calm, complementing the rest of the laid-back town's attractiveness. There were also individuals feeding ducks there, which was a picture worth capturing.
You must experience Switzerland by rail since it is one of the most gratifying experiences available. The Glacier Express is one such railway that connects Zermatt and St. Moritz, two of the most prominent Swiss ski resorts. The train is notorious for being the world's slowest, taking eight hours to go 274 kilometres. It passes through 91 tunnels and traverses 290 bridges.
And now that I had read and heard sooooo much about Lake Brienz, that was a must-stop on my list. The best thing was that lake Brienz was en route from lucern to Interlaken. so we planned our journey accordingly. We got down at lake Brienz station. We had two full-size big suitcases, and it was impossible to explore this beautiful sight, with all the luggage we had.
The best thing is there are lockers available at the station. They are big enough to accommodate one full-size suitcase. The cost of a locker is 5 francs. I did not have any change, but the local store at the station was really kind enough to give me the change.
We shoved our luggage in the lockers and went for a walk by the lake. It is one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. Whatever I had read about this lake was absolutely true to the T. The ethereal turquoise colour of the waters is unmissable. If there's one spot in Switzerland I would really ask you not to miss is this lake and this pretty charming town of Brienz. My bad luck was that it was a Sunday and the town was mostly closed.
Day 4: Interlaken: Experienced A Life Away From City
We went directly to Interlaken after spending the day in Lucerne, which is a little town that looks like something out of a painting. This jewel of a place was situated in the centre of two gorgeous lakes, with the magnificent Swiss Alps as a backdrop. We continued on to the Stechelberg, a little Swiss village, where we marvelled at the town's beauty.
The Swiss Alps are to thank for Bollywood's constant enthusiasm for Switzerland, which is just a beautiful site for beautiful song scenes. The Swiss Alps are responsible for much of Switzerland's fame, and why not? They are breathtaking.
By the time we reached Interlaken and checked in our hotel, it was almost evening. We did not have much time left, as the main town closes around 5 pm, so we did not want to just lounge around in the hotel. After a quick check in to the hotel, we went out to explore the nearby areas.
We went for a walk, around the hotel. The quaint streets and cafes make this little town surrounded by beautiful alps, so very charming.
Day 5
We had scheduled a cruise on Lake Thun and a visit to Thun for Day 5. Lake Thun is a lovely lake that extends 18 kilometres from Thun to Interlaken and is over 4 kilometres broad at its widest point (according to Google:). It's a lovely and tranquil resort with a backdrop of the Bernese Alps, glittering blue water, and a shoreline lined with castles and cottages.
We left the hotel after breakfast, with plenty of time before the cruise began. So we took to the streets on foot and explored the old town.
Day 6
On the next day, we went to explore Mt. Schilthorn which was also a nice place to visit. We enjoyed the scenery surrounding this place. We spent the day there and admired the beauty of the mountains. Later we started our journey towards Zurich which is the largest city in Switzerland and the busiest too.
Day 7
Zurich is the polar opposite of Interlaken and Stechelberg. The instant we stepped into the metropolis; it was teeming with people. There were streets lined with lovely lodging alternatives, delectable restaurants, and great shopping opportunities, which were ideal for a shopaholic like me.
